Yakiniku is a selection of meat and vegetables, thinly sliced and cooked quickly on a stone hotplate. Then dipped in delicious, authentic sauces and eaten in small mouthfuls.

Please don’t think of it as a troublesome and smoky indoor version of the BBQ. Using a stone cooking plate, the flame is not in direct contact with the food so burning is less common. Cooking juices drain through the grill into a “moat” of water underneath the hotplate. The best way to explain it is to try it!
